Total Car Parks’ Ambassador Raises Hundreds of Pounds on Gruelling Cycle Challenge

Total Car Parks’ employee, Ryan Taylor, completed a 90-mile Palace to Palace cycle challenge on Sunday [October 7th 2018] and raised hundreds of pounds for The Prince’s Trust.

Ryan Taylor, 26, from Ipswich, pedalled from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle with cyclists nationwide and opted for the Ultra route, the hardest of the two routes, which includes the Surrey Hills and Leith Hill Place; the Classic route is half this distance.

Ryan, a Young Ambassador for the charity, spent six months shaping up for the challenge and completed a 60-mile ride just days before the event.

He said: “It was a fantastic day; I was so proud to have finished the challenge, and to have received such generous support. Palace to Palace was my chance to give back! The Prince’s Trust is such a great cause and I cannot thank them enough for making such a positive impact on my life.

Ryan’s hard work paid off as he raised £175 for the charity on his JustGiving page, so far. He has had many more donations since then, which were submitted to the Princes Trust in his name, and it is thought the grand total could be around £1,000.

Sunday’s route was not an easy ride. “Apart from the colossal hills - or at least they felt like that after the first 30 miles - the ride was really enjoyable and the Team members at the Prince’s Trust were incredibly supportive, waiting for me on the finish line to celebrate.”

His wife, Annabelle, and children, Summer, aged 5, and Marshall, aged 4, saw him over the finish line; after completing the ride they headed for a well-earned burger to celebrate.

Asked why he took on the challenge, Ryan said: “Just a little over five years ago I had spent around 18-months out of work and had no long-term career prospects. I was lucky enough to be asked to take part in the Prince’s Trust ‘Team Programme’ and in spite of a few reservations about joining – I did, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life to date.

“The Team programme didn’t just help me get a job, it taught me how to present myself in professional situations, how to prepare for a job, and – more importantly – it helped me to achieve a level of self-confidence that I had not experienced before.”

The Prince’s Trust ‘Team Programme’ secured work experience for Ryan at Total Car Parks. He was offered a permanent post as a Junior Administrator and over four years later he has risen through the ranks to run New Business & Development.  Ryan is now responsible for creating business proposals and developing ideas – one of these was ‘Go Ticketing’ (goticketing.co.uk), a brand of the company.

As a Prince’s Trust Young Ambassador, Ryan not only represents the Trust at numerous events but gives nationwide talks in front of large audiences to inspire young people and raise awareness of the charity.

“Thanks to the Prince’s Trust, I see a positive and innovative future for myself,” he said. “I feel privileged to be part of such a selfless and fantastic organisation and I did the Trust proud on Sunday!”
